A 30-year-old based on Vancouver Island, Canada, I grew up in rural North Yorkshire, England, with a love of writing and a zest for the outdoors and an active lifestyle. I embarked on my first experience of solo travel aged 19 and went on to become an adventure enthusiast in the summer months between my university studies. A valuable form of learning, my travel experiences have given me an insight into global trends in human behaviour and interaction. They have allowed me to witness the natural beauty of mankind and our environment, as well as the challenges faced by both in an increasingly digital and divided world.
I graduated from King’s College London in 2014 with a BA in History, and in early 2015 I began my career in Human Resources, specializing in recruitment, staffing, and employee relations. Although living in London had been a worthwhile experience, the big bustling city life wasn’t for me and I used my vacation days to escape the capital for either the Yorkshire countryside, short trips to Europe, or a reunion with Vancouver Island. In late 2016, I left England to pursue my goal of living and working in Canada, and in late 2018 I became a Permanent Resident. I am fortunate to live and work on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen Peoples, also known as the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations.
Maintaining work-life balance is very important to me. Travel, hiking, fitness, and writing are activities I consider integral to my personal wellness. I believe you can have a fulfilling full-time job and still live a healthy, happy life that makes time for these things.
With a personal and professional interest in human behaviour, I love to journal and reflect, and my blog posts tend to be retrospective and thematic in nature. For me, travel writing is a chance to discuss sociological lessons learned on the road, in order to stimulate questions and help improve one’s understanding of humanity. Here I aim to share intimate observations and stories about my experiences that I hope illustrate how enlightening, inspiring and fulfilling travelling can be.
I’ve been an avid writer from a young age. My first book, Trail of Worth, was published in July 2021.
